First off, the prices? Man, some of these sellers are straight-up greedy. They’re trying to get away with charging, like, *more* than the retail price for a watch that’s supposedly “like new.” Like, come on, who are you kidding? I avoid those like the plague. I get it, everyone wants to make a buck, but c’mon.
Now, about the authenticity… that’s where things get really dicey. Yeah, Chrono24’s a legit company, alright. But that doesn’t mean that every single watch on there is the real deal. Counterfeits? Oh yeah, they slip through the cracks. It’s like playing whack-a-mole with fake Rolexes. And it seems like the fake Tag Heuers are getting really, really good lately…scary stuff.
I saw one post about a dude who bought a Navitimer and the seller was all “Oh, the band’s gotta ship separately ’cause of alligator band customs issues.” Sketchy, right? Like, what even is that? Sounds like a load of bull to me. I can totally see that being a red flag.
And then there’s the Trusted Checkout. They tell you it’s supposed to protect you, and maybe it does, sometimes. But still… If you get a fake watch, you can send it back, but I still gotta ask, what if the seller skips town? I’ve heard whispers of watches getting seized by customs, too. Talk about a nightmare!
I did buy one watch from a private seller on Chrono24 once, and thankfully, it was all good. But, I mean, that’s just one data point. I wouldn’t exactly bet the farm on having the same experience every time.
