Okay, so I stumbled down the internet rabbit hole again, and this time it’s all about Gandalf rockin’ a watch. Seriously? Gandalf? Wearing a watch? My brain kinda short-circuited.
Apparently, some folks spotted a glimpse of a wrist-mounted something on the Grey Wanderer in *Return of the King*. Now, naturally, the internet exploded. Is it real? A blooper? A glimpse into a secret wizarding world where time is…well, managed differently?
Theories abound, man. One nugget I dug up suggests it’s all about Gandalf being punctual. “A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to!” – so maybe a watch is just good wizardly time management, you know? Like, keeps him on schedule for battling Balrogs and stuff. Makes sense, kinda.
But then, BAM! We get into the “Zenith Knockoffs For Sale Gandalf Wearing A Watch Fake” side of things. Deepfakes! Sean Connery! Iperov sharing magic! Dude, the internet is wild. So, are we talking about a cleverly fabricated image designed to troll Tolkien fanatics? Probably. Honestly, who knows anymore.
Then you got the whole “gandalf watch fake, ashford watches real or fake” thing. Suddenly, we’re questioning the authenticity of *everything*. Did Gandalf buy a dodgy Zenith from a back alley in Minas Tirith? Is Ashford watches even legit? This is getting outta hand!
And then…the podcast episode. “HourTime Show Watch Podcast Episode 114 – Hockey Pucks, Mystery Factories & Dumb Gandalf.” I mean, come on! “Dumb Gandalf?” Harsh, much? Apparently, they’re talking about antique watches and Renee S Johns’ boring interest in…well, you get the picture. The connection to Gandalf and his potential wrist-wear is…tenuous, at best.
Seriously, I’m losing my mind.
But, let’s be real for a sec. Even if the watch is totally fake, a complete fabrication, the whole kerfuffle is kinda entertaining. It’s a testament to the enduring power of Tolkien and the way we scrutinize every single detail of his world. Plus, it gives us something to argue about besides the merits (or lack thereof) of Rings of Power. Speaking of which, I saw something about Gandalf roasting that show. Oh boy…that’s a whole other can of worms.
